Background
Biobanking is a science of collecting, processing, and preserving biological specimens that may include tissue,
blood, and other bodily fluids. These specimens can be used for diagnosis, disease treatment and understanding
the biology of the disease. The global biobanking market was valued at $42,104.30 million in 2020, and is
estimated to reach $69,518.70 million by 2028 (source).
Goal in India
The goal is to collect biospecimens in India and distribute globally for biological and clinical
research. These biospecimens will be collected from academic, government, non-profit, and private institutions
in India. The type of biospecimens collected from these institutions is outlined in the business activities
section below.
Business Activities
We will provide the following biospecimens and services for their intended use to researchers:
Biospecimens
Tissue Microarrays (TMA)
We will provide normal, malignant, or metastatic tissue array or tissue microarray (TMA) which can be
utilized to validate clinical relevance of potential biological targets in the development of therapeutics,
diagnostics and study new protein markers and genes. TMA contains multiple tissue samples with protein, RNA,
DNA molecules. It provides a high-throughput method for the fast analysis of molecular markers associated
with disease diagnosis, prognosis, and therapeutics in patients. We will also provide custom tissue array
as well as the immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining and In situ hybridization (ISH) on tissue array or tissue
microarray.
FFPE tissue sections
Formalin fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) whole tissue sections will be provided for research which are ideal
candidates for localizing DNA, RNA, and protein markers. Our FFPE tissue section will be suitable for
detection of immunostaining (IHC and IF), FISH or ISH.
Blood and its products
Serum, plasma, whole blood (fresh and frozen), PBMCs, buffy coat or other blood products will be provided for
research to develop non-invasive approaches for disease detection and therapeutics.
Other biospecimen types
Other biospecimen types that will be collected for research and not limited to will include biospecimen types
like saliva, ascitic fluid, sweat, breast milk, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, esophageal aspirates, tissue
exudates, broncho-alveolar lavage. These biospecimen types have shown to be helpful in detecting disease at
an early stage and help in the development of effective treatment using biomarkers.
